SOCIETAS HERPETOLOGICA ITALICA

Concept

A brand identity developed for a regional branch of the Italian Herpetological Society, a scientific and academic organization dedicated to the study and conservation of amphibians and reptiles across Italy.

The visual identity is built around a strong, symbolic mark composed of silhouettes of amphibians—frogs, salamanders, and reptiles—arranged to subtly reference the geography of Campania. This choice reinforces the link between scientific research, biodiversity, and local territory, while keeping the language accessible and immediately recognizable.

Visual System

The color system uses a textured gradient inspired by natural habitats: earth, rock, humidity, and light filtering through landscapes. These tones evoke the environments in which herpetofauna live, translating scientific rigor into a visual experience that feels organic and grounded.

The font is Pangea Afrikan. Its neutral and rational character ensures clarity in research communication while allowing the visual system to remain flexible across educational, institutional, and outreach materials.

Mission

Overall, the identity balances scientific authority and environmental sensitivity, positioning the Campania section of the Societas Herpetologica Italica as a credible, modern voice in wildlife conservation and public awareness.
